Anybody ride the XLab Aero Supreme http://www.nytro.com/product23.html Thinking about using this with my RENN disc… By the way, who makes Xlab wheels?
For a little more you can get a HED tri spoke front ($550), or the really cool new carbon version ($610). I think both weigh less and are likely more aero.
-Shameless plug alert! -
I ride the Aero Supreme in front and the Tri-spoke in the rear on my Kestrel Talon SL. IMHO, and I can’t speak for you, you have to do this yourself, as I’ve tried many other ‘high-end’ wheelsets: Mavic, Nimble, Hed, Topolino - finally settling on XLAB for one reason: They held my fat @$$ up Torrey Pines 50 pounds ago, when Mavic or Nimble (which has a weight max < 200) could not. I’ve repaired the Mavic and Nimble (Spider) and they hang in my garage as testaments anxiously waiting for my XLAB ‘kids’ to take a break. Go first class and spend the $$. I’ve never cared about cost so much as quality. XLAB gets my vote (and dollar); enough written.
Try XLAB. The company is 6 doors north of Nytro (www.airointernational.com); talk to Dave (GM). Tell him ‘Mike who drives a Kestrel Talon SL’ recommended you. He’s (Dave) truly a great guy and I will always appreciate the long talks we’ve shared on aerodynamics, carbon-fiber setups and ways to keep my Kestrel < 17#.
Cheers,
mike
