These things have caught my attention. Anyone ride them/know the scoop? Saw a study that said they’re pretty aero - on the scale of the HED 3 but only weigh 1200g. Pricey little buggers too ![]()
I think there were more Xentis wheels in Kona than the rest of the world back in October.
They must be good.

You will have to run the front backwards…!
The Xentis wheels are my best wheels I ever had

The Xentis wheels are my best wheels I ever had
are you sure?
They only would be in certain conditions. I think they are horrendous although if someone can say they tested better in the wind tunnel (and I doubt it) i’ll bow to their superior information.
The 1500gm version is half the price.
Hey ‘the dude’
I rode a set of these for IMUK which was very hilly and they were sublime. In comparison, I ride corima carbon for road racing and with a disc on the back for tris depending on the terrain, and raced my mates Zipp 808’s for Muskoka here in Ontario. The 808’s are FAST but can’t be raced on all terrain (eg: no go at say Hawaii or Placid with the wind and climbing respectively) whereas the Zentis I believe you could race on anything.
Tests in conditions without any wind (track) gives Xentis top score, and users really like the wheels, but the only test I’ve seen that tested them in side-wind (yaw) rated them really slow:

Ref page 3, text and graph:
The Xentis “Mark 1” displays a rather untypical behavior.
Instead of decreasing, the resistance increases with higher streaming angles. This result also contradicts the acceptable drag value in frontal streaming situations. Above an angle of 12.5 degrees, only the Ambrosio “Xcarbo” with its many spokes gets worse results.
hey ajo,
cool read, thanks. It prompted me to remember my wonderful experience with MAVICS. In may 05 I rode a mavic cosmic carbone on the front and a mavic disc on the back courtesy of the store I frequent at the Disney half. Nothing I have ever ridden tops that flight! One thing many of the wind tunnel test miss (IMHO) is the quality of the bearings and the smooth ride. I really can’t explain how incredibly fast the mavic combination felt to anything I have ridden.
This said, not many can afford a mavic disc and I had to return it when I got home-![]()
