Xentis race wheels and crosswind

I am a light (115 lb) rider. Any problems with Xentis wheels in a crosswind, or would I be better off with a 404 front and rear?

Aerodynamically youd be better off with a 404. The Hed 3 has a lot more surface area(one of the key factors in determining how badly you’ll get pused around by a wheel) than a Xentis and they handle okay under my 130 pound frame.

The Xentis just edges out Shimano’s training r560 wheels.

Xentis does really well in some reports and somewhat poorly in others. I am not sure that I would rely on a single data set when there are 3 or 4 others available as well.

404’s are probably the safe bet. Probably faster than the Xentis and probably handle better as well. I just don’t know what you would gain with the Xentis…

Are you talking about the Xentis TT wheels?

The recent tour test puts them very close to 808’s (see page 3)…

One of the guys on our TT team swears by them having tried a wide range of wheels. He came to this conclusion having performed some outdoor testing.

In serious crosswind, you might have a problem with stability. I am 139 lb and sometimes have difficulty with handling the xentis mark I’s in crosswind.

I don’t know if a 404 would do better. Maybe you should even take a 303 in front.
