XC Skiing, how hard is it to learn?

OK since this is the ski thread, just came back from a 4:20 62K skate ski with >4000 ft of climbing…I love this sport. I was skiing with this friend of mine Erik Grimm who is a stud triathlete too (top age grouper at Timberman a few year ago)…it was just like being on a long painful century ride where you are last guy in the peleton hanging on with a bungee chord, hoping that it does not blow apart…it was painful in a good way. Temp was just around minus 16 at start and gradually made its way up to minus 12 with limited wind and brilliant sunshine and perfect grooming…you live for days like this.

Kurt, Chris, what am I doing that my triceps and lats start burning late in races or long hard training when my legs have lots of headroom? Should I be doing more uphill double pole to engage my abs more on training days? Sorry no video…or it could just be a hydration thing as I only had 1L of liquid (no point bringing much more cause it ends up freezing anyway).

Halvard, awesome videos!!!

EDIT: skied on my brand new RCS with a Wayne Johansson Cold Grind and the skis were like rockets with one wax job!!!
what kind of wax did u use and how can it not be like skating on sandpaper at this temp?
