There are some things I like about it (i.e. the different categories), but I hate the petty bickering between the judges. I usually mute the tv when the judges start talking.
I think the mentoring is a big fail. No mentor is going to be objective when it comes to critiqueing his/her singers. They’re certainly not going to choose to send one of their singers home if given a chance to send someone else’s.
I like the singing but hate the drama. I don’t know if I’ll watch it again next year unless they change the format some.
I watched one episode and found the judges horrible and the music uninspired and boring. It’s like going to McDonald’s and arguing over which value meal is the highest mark in gourmet eating.
I watched the earlier stuff but started losing interest as they became more “Cookie cutter” and polished and started bringing in special acts. I quite watching when they brought Will Smiths kid in and realized that anyone in the competition was better than that kid and that in essence this show was little more than taking people with some talent and turning them into a product that fits the “Mass consumption” parameters.
I was somewhat amazed when almost every judge said “Well could this person be a star?”. Rarely did “Star power” get over ridden by “That person is very talented and good”.
I liked the background stories they went into early on. Didn’t like the “Mentoring” other than having the knowledge there to match the right music with the individuals talents. Could do without the judging drama…but then again I’m not 13 either
Same show, same format, no “Special guest acts”, less “Packaging” of the singers, I can ignore the judging BS.

Because nobody care about talent (at least a TV Show)… You obviously need to talent (well usually) but even when you look at American Got Talent at the end the question they ask is: “Is it a 1 Million dollar act in Las Vegas”, and not is it the most talented person/act.
& word like millions, star, act in LV ring a bell with the audience because “everybody” wants to be like the Kardashians dreaming about being rich and famous.
When you like at the auditions: that vast majority as 0 talent and yet they still show up not being afraid to make fool of themselves hoping (and I do not know how) they will be that next start.

Really? You don’t know why? Paris Hilton, Kardashiens and god knows how many others have what for a talent? These people are showing up in hopes that they will be the next “CRaaaazzzzyyyy and willllllddddd!!!” zero talent super stars. doesn’t take much talent to be obnoxious.
I have been watching from the beginning, and having watched many years of Idol and other talent shows, I believe most of these kids have talent!
I’ve been disappointed a few times with this show. The first was when the judges made their final selections and dropped some very talented kids. The girl rugby coach comes to mind as a talent dropped. Some of the selections they made were pathetic like the nails down the chalkboard screeching of the James Brown/Mick Jagger wannabe.
The second time was last night when the flawed 4 judge vote gave talented Rachel Crow the boot over Marcus Canty who has zero singing talent, but they gush over him as an “entertainer”. Last week they gave an incredibly talented 15 year old kid the boot, again in favour of this Canty kid who canty sing!! I’m ready to change channels the next time.

I agree and not because she was cute (if I recall correctly) nor because she also played rugby
Exactly what you said. I watched a bit in the beginning, got bored/unimpressed. I tried to watch it again once or twice but each time I was disappointed in how big a production value they are putting into each act. Make them stand up there and sing. Period.
