Andy’s 2014 season so far has been punctuated by four huge victories: Ironman 70.3 New Orleans, Escape from Alcatraz (the most wins by any male in race history), Ironman Coeur de’ Alene, and Ironman 70.3 Calgary. He’s tallied a Top-5 in the other four events he’s raced, including two runner-ups. Conclusion: He’s more poised than ever heading into the season and sport’s ultimate test.
But perhaps most importantly, his motivation is off the charts. Injury sidelined him last year in heartbreaking, last-minute fashion. Andy heads back to the island with a vengeance. He’s structured his entire 2014 campaign around Kona, has a new weapon at his disposal (the redesigned 2015 Kestrel 4000), and has gotten stronger and stronger as the season’s gone on. It’s going to be one hell of an Ironman World Championship.
