Is Tyler H. banned already?
why is it taking so long!!!
You seem over excited with Beke´s doping results!!!
Who wouldnt be? An Aussie would then be in the money!!! Mitch Anderson - 11th!

I’m with you Sergio. Ban Tyler too. I have an equal opportunity distaste of all cheaters.
What about Angel Meyer that was caught using steroids at the '88 olympic swimming trials, given a lifetime ban, then is competing with the national team only a few years later? How did that happen?
Dear US Cycling / US Anti-Doping;
Congratulations on your recent quick action with Zajicek.
I’m curious why such quick action was not taken with Tyler Hamilton?
Here are some USA Today reader letters you may find interesting. Follow this link:

When you flounder in a decision, you send a host of mixed messages to both clean and doping athletes: 1. you must dope to compete 2. there are no serious consequences 3. testing is easily overturned by debate.
Your indecisiveness and public positioning on the Tyler Hamilton issue has sent messages to other organizations such as the WTC. The WTC is exemplifying the same “delay” and “sweep-it-under-the-rug” tactics with their new found Rutger Beke positive test that you are using with Hamilton.
Athletes are clean (innocent) until they test positive (guilty). When they test positive, there should be an immediate suspension and revocation of awards and license pending further testing and investigation.
Respectfully,
H.U. Mann
pinkboy, are you saying that you are happy to see doping in triathlon especially in IM.
I´m not, i hate to hear doping stories in any sports especially the ones i follow…
Would you like to see the top 10 disqualified for failing the doping control? that would put Mitch as world champion, wouldn´t it be nice?
In no way do I condone doping of any kind. What I am saying is that if there is a case of doping in the top 10 of the IM, then Mitch would have been a top 10 clean competitor, not 11th in a drug riddled top 10. I too hate drugs in sport, look at Matt Rogers in cycling in the past 12 months. 2nd to Dave Millar in TT worlds, 4th to Tyler Hamilton in Olympics. He could have been World Champion and Bronze medalist if not for these cheats.
pinkboy…my 2c worth
ok, so we speak the same language ![]()
actually rogers was crownd TT world champion for 2 times in the same day in the last world championships
i enjoyed his words, “the medal has no meaning to me, i just want to hear the national anthem” and then BANG, 1 minute to the rest of the field, that was cool ![]()
.
OK, two more positive and Olaf is back in the money ![]()

If Hamilton really is guilty, he should pay the price and serve the suspension. I’m just not so sure he is guilty. Injecting yourself with someone’s else’s blood is about as safe as unprotected sex with a prostitute. If Hamilton really wanted to blood-dope, I can’t help but believe that he would have used his own blood which is not only safer but virtually undetectable.
If Hamilton is really guilty then he’s really stupid.

Ah. I see you read his wife’s propaganda. That’s the point she made.
Unfortunately, it’s not true. Blood can be (and is) tested for hepatitis, malaria and HIV, etc. It’s only dangerous if you get untested donated blood. If Tyler was careful (and no reason to believe he wasn’t – after all, his dog got sick from untested blood) then he would only inject “clean” blood. No more risk than getting some donated blood during surgery.
And – doping with one’s own blood doesn’t really work. When you take the blood out, your training falls back until the blood is replaced. You lose a little fitness. The point of the extra blood cells is not to have them just on race day. Blood cells (hemoglobin) is not the limiter on race day. In order for the extra hemoglobin to have a positive effect, you need it during training so that it stimulates additional mitochondria growth and higher levels of myoglobin. If I suddenly raised my hematocrit tomorrow by 10 points and went out and raced, I wouldn’t be any faster. It has to be higher for 6 weeks or so.
If he uses his own blood, each time he sucks blood out, he effectively loses 3 weeks of training. So the only way to do it, would be during the 2-3 month off season (if that) and suck three “servings” out to be reinjected over the course of the season. I’m not sure a pro cyclist could really “donate” three times in 2-3 months. Perhaps if you are getting infused from a “known” donor, then you might feel safer about the whole thing. I hope these tests are messed up and Tyler did not cheat, but to me, it is not looking very good. If he is getting infused with someone’s blood, there has to be a number of other people who are also involved, including doctors, donors (perhaps) etc. Anytime more than two people are involved in a “secret”, things get out. So, someone will eventually spill the beans if this test is revealing what it is supposed to reveal. I just hope it is not.
It’s been 10 days since the Ironman. Have the pros been paid yet? Has anyone heard the Beke status?A couple of related posts:

maybe nothing new here, but it’s a new article as of today: http://www.duathlon.com/articles/3675
.
The news today about Rutger Beke in Belgium was that his the second doping lab in Koln did something wrong, so maybe we have a secoond Tyler Hamilton case and Beke recieve no ban at all
.
do you have a link?
also, even if they did something wrong. I would hope that they do not use 100% of the blood sample for test A (50%) and B (50%). Keeping a small reserve would allow for mistakes. What the hell is going on?? I hate people that cheat, thus I hate doping. It’s fuckn bull and isn’t fair.
Since WTC is not part of the IOC, what are the rules regarding positive drug tests? Also, while I’m at it just to throw it out there. 2 and 4 year bans are a fuckn joke. For more serious performance enhancing drugs such as EPO I would suggest a life ban.
d
why did they test the B sample in Köln? What lab in Köln did the tests?
edit. just read on http://www.wada-ama.org/en/t3.asp?p=41979 , WADA’s web site that the German Sports University is located in Köln and that they are an accredited laboratory.
Here is a link to Rutger Beke’s Team Web site. http://www.arinso-biktriathlonteam.com/en/support_crew/default.asp The link is for the Team Support Crew. It’s awesome how much medical support that team has, way cool. My question (if it is true that the B sample got screwed up from the Köln laboratory). Why did they test in Köln?? I just see some links to Köln as one of the team’s Exercise Physiologists used to study at the Sporthochschule Köln. AGAIN, I am NOT accusing anybody of doing anything. Just thought it was kind of interesting.
Daniel,
Even if they used all the blood on both samples, if both samples are positive, it is a positive test, no need to retest it.
Remember that if the second sample in Tyler Hamilton’s Olympic test was tested, we would have a new Olympic Champion in Ekimov. Of course that gold medal turned into tin really fast… and tin is heavier to carry around than gold…
I totally agree with you. Another question about Beke. After finishing 2nd place in Hawaii last year. Didn’t they do blood tests? I know that things can change in the meantime, just curious if they did test (and I think they should) and if those results are publically available.
gotta go ride now…
I’m with ya Swiss. As far as I am concerned as soon as you take PED’s you have defaced the sport and have no right to participate in sanctioned events again…ever!
