This is awesome… one thing I’d like to see happen (that won’t); you get your $90 back when you compete.
Just got that email. I am sure some will complain that you have to pay for it, but given the overall cost of doing an IM the premium is peanuts. Good move.
Smart, another way for them to make money!
fair policy - fair deal

OK so now why are we going to hate WTC?
.
That’s not how an insurance works though. You don’t get your $80 a month of so for car insurance if when you don’t crash it
We still have drafting, shortening/canceling the swim, AG doping, entry fees, flat courses, hilly courses, cold courses, hot courses to complain about!
Heck, I’m French, I’ll always find something. For instance, I don’t like that the logo is red.
so where is the list of races covered?
.
Are these the same qualified doctors that get you the appropriate service dog paperwork for flying and medical marijuana cards?
Seems like a good deal as far as percentages go if you’ve had past injuries, etc.
Because “This Plan does not cover intentionally self-inflicted injury or self-inflicted sickness”

Well…of course…but I don’t want insurance, I just want my money back!

Yes, I realize that… and when you do crash, they up your insurance so that you pay for all damages over a 3 year period. YAY!

$90 is a steep insurance plan that’s only intended to cover the “basic” reasons why someone might not be able to participate (injury/medical/death-in-family)
13% of the cost of the covered event?

I think it’s a reasonable price.

Not exactly. Your insurance goes up because your level of risk just increased. The likelihood that you’ll crash again within the next 2-3 years just increased. It’s just simple statistics. They also realize that now that you have a crash, they no longer needs to be as aggressive with pricing, since it will be hard for you to get re-insured elsewhere with a claim within the last 12 months. So supply and demand (capitalism) impact the price increase as well.
I was actually wondering about the self-inflicted injury part - wouldn’t an overtraining injury be a very clear case of a self-inflicted injury and thus excluded?

Would being out of shape and looking for a way to bail out of a race be considered an illness or injury
