WTB: SIDI T1 Carbon shoes

Size 43/44. However, they must be the carbon version and not the regular T1. These were made from 2004-2006. And I need the carbon model not because I’m a carbon freak, but b/c of a particular set of holes they use to hold the plate on the cleat section which an double as a midfoot/arch cleat setting with SPD pedals. Here is a pic of that model in case you are unsure…and please let me know the price on them:)

Ha, you are in luck! I have a set of the T1 Carbon’s in a size 43.5. PM me with an offer. I won’t be able to send you photos for a week though, as I’m on vacation and they’re at home.

.

I have a pair that are size 44 (if I’m remembering correctly). Did you get this figured out already?

Let me know.

Drew

Thanks dude!

Keep in mind… Those holes won’t line up with SPD cleats. The spacing is too wide. You’ll need to use Eggbeaters.

They actually do line up fine as long as you don’t use the SPD washer. I have a pair of Sidi road, but want some tri. If you put the screws in w/o the SPD washer and Loctite them it’s golden. I had a chat with Jim Vance and he told me about the issue…just dump the washer!

My Dual ships out Monday:) Got a really great deal on one that could be your twin!

Have you tried them yet? Since you don’t have the ability to slide the shoe in/outboard a little without the washer, I’m curious if the shoe itself hits the crankarms.

Yup have ridden them and they are perfecto. There is still a bit of lateral adjustment available, but about half as much as with the washer. Shimano says 5mm…I probably get 1/2 that, but even when I put it to the outside and the foot as close to the crank it still doesn’t hit.

Good to know.

I rode my modified shoes for the first time today. Just a very easy 30 minutes (I raced Kansas 70.3 yesterday.) to dial in the saddle height and get a start on acclimating to the change. Felt a little strange clipping in and walking around in the shoes, but not too weird while actually riding. I ended up having to lower my saddle 1/2", but didn’t move it fore/aft at all. I’m interested in giving it a shot once I’m recovered and can ride harder.

Don’t know what size foot you have, but these new Sidi 43’s are for sale…I never thought I would find a pair of T1 Carbon triathlon steps and found some…so these need a new home.

Don’t need road shoes, and wear a 45. But, here’s a free bump for ya!

What pedals did you end up going with? I’m using the PD-A520’s and they are really great. The float more than makes up for any potential alignment issues that may arise with my setup. Might be more of an issue for home made midfoots, but damn the pedals are nice.

PD-M540

Probikekit had them cheap. They don’t have a ton of float (which is good for me). But, they do have enough to correct any slight misalignment with the cleat drilling. I did another easy 30 minutes on them this afternoon, and all is well.

That is a bit weird you have not felt the need to move forward, but whatever feels good go for it! You might have already been quite steep?

I was coming from 6cm behind the bb so I had to get something more forward…my Dual ships out Thursday!

Just by moving it down 1/2", the saddle also went forward a bit. I still may feel the need to move it a bit more forward when I start riding at higher power levels. But, for now (ie. recovering from KS and acclimating to the change), it’s fine. And, yes. I was pretty steep to start with.

Yup same thing for me, but I was coming from so far behind the bb that it still was just about 3cm too shy of where I needed to be. I cannot wait for my beastie to get here so I can build it up with some frosty Corona Lights and great tunes:)

If you get a chance sometime I would like to see a pic of your home made midfoots…thanks.

Here are a few pics…

The hardware is all stainless steel. I used a few taps with a hammer to conform the base of each T-nut to the shoe’s footbed, and the screws are ground so that they are just long enough that they’re below the surface of the footbed. I don’t feel any of it since it’s under the plastic part of the Superfeet insoles. You’ll also notice the metatarsal pads in the forefoot of each shoe. These are to provide a bit of support & cushioning for the same issue that compelled me to give the midsole cleats a shot.
