Here you go!

that phrase has been used (occasionally with a comma or period after the first wow, for extra effect) 218 times on this forum, that is, in 218 threads. it has been used in 185 threads in the lavender room, which is expected, because that’s where people hang out who feign righteous indignation as a tactic.
if it’s worthy of a wow just wow it’s worthy of you explaining in english using subject+verb what you find offensive.
Nice stats. Are you so bored as to compile/repeat these with a thread on a phrase that in the scheme of things, really has little effect on the meaning of Life and the time we have left here? I know…yet, here I am in the same camp commenting on the thread itself. Now I ask myself, whether I should put this in pink or not…which tactic I should use. I may or may not get back to answer that, I may in the Lavender Room tossing around “wow” tactics.
How many users have used it?
I suspect that it may be used a lot by just a few individuals. In the same way some people do not seem to understand the meaning of snowflake
meow. just… meow

Complains the guy who doesn’t use capital letters.
The problem with this wow just wow response is it is a belittling put down to whomever the response is directed to leaving way too much open ended for a negative spiral between forum players. Best if people just explain what they find wrong with a poster’s statement and make it clear so the other party can respond back with specifics and clarity.
That’s the whole point, they don’t want the other person to be able to do that. It’s a post people make when they know they have lost the argument, so they want to eliminate any possibility of a rational continuation.

The literary equivalent of throwing the chessboard in the air when you’re going to be checkmated in 2 moves…
The literary equivalent of throwing the chessboard in the air when you’re going to be checkmated in 2 moves…
Not always. There is also the alternative sequence of events, where the player who is now in checkmate refuses to accept that pieces are constrained to certain movement patterns and insists that some oddball thing is legal. At which point you recognize that you are no longer dealing with a reasoned individual, and walk away.
Now I’ve elected to do so without the explicit WJW. But, trust me its ringing in my head…even now…probably BECAUSE of this thread.

you’re right. “not always.” but overwhelmingly, especially when used here. whatever defensible use there once was for WJW, it has morphed into shorthand for, “i hate what you just wrote but i don’t have a strong argument against it,” or, “i lack the capacity to articulate my argument,” or, “i just plain don’t like you,” combined with a dose of righteous indignation designed as a put-down.

“wow just wow” has been shortened to an acronym now? Seriously?
wow. just…wow.
sorry. WJW.

It is “the way”. if a “phrase” is going to get its very own thread…Shirly, it deserves its own acronym.
If WJW bothers you, perhaps you’d like this one from my motor racing life:
IIDSYCYC - If It Doesn’t Say You Can You Can’t
Which is a rule definition methodology whereby the rules are written to describe the ONLY allowable modifications. Anything not explicitly listed is prohibited by the IIDSYCYC principle.

There are people on the forum that don’t use a caps key as well. If it’s worthy of explaining an opinion, it should be worthy of the trivial pressing of the caps key at the appropriate times instead of instead of emulating an uneducated millennial sending a text to a buddy.

WJW—but more in the vein of “oh no you didn’t!”

one is an element of personal style. the other is an expression of derision directed at another use. i trust and hope you see the difference, even if you wish i’d write the way you want me to write.

What if one finds the lack of capitalization a demonstration of a lack of repsect for the reader?
