Wove saddles

open road and gravel. been playing with saddle position and tilt and height but still not comfy.

Have you sent any fit videos to @Nick_wovebike?

In my experience, in both setting up my own saddle with Nick & one other, any discomfort has been related to being fit specifically on a Wove. If it is off a bit, it won’t be comfortable. You won’t think it’s anything different from any other saddle. But the ā€œmagicā€ happens when you’re sitting on it properly set up–includes both where on the saddle you sit, HOW you sit on with with a flat back/rotated pelvis, angle of the saddle, and sit bone distance to reach is what I think are the primary variables. Nick has gone above & beyond with personal attention to a buyer’s fit, but there is only one of him. Even bike fitters aren’t really setting up many correctly on a Wove. I suppose that’s why he has videos and text instructions–but many don’t even read or apply those correctly. I’ve personally seen several not follow the set up instructions correctly and it really was boiling down to their fault for not doing it properly when you look at how they sat on their bike.

Set it up right, or reach out to Nick–it’ll be a game changer in comfort. I’ve been at this sport a long time & it’s the first time I’ve ridden a bike on a non-crotch-killer saddle.

I really like my V8 and so far it’s been my favorite saddle. However, I’m still not entirely comfortable on it. After about an hour in position, I start getting a sharp pain in my soft tissue. Standing up for a few seconds provides some relief, but it doesn’t last very long.
It seems like I have less issues when racing, perhaps the thinner pad helps or I just don’t pay attention to it.

I don’t think it’s my sit bones causing the pain, and I believe I’m rotating my hip properly.

I did have a chat with Nick at some point but nothing wrong stood out to him.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what did you try to resolve it?

I’ve experimented with different saddle angles and tried sitting farther forward and farther back, but it’s possible I’ve made changes that were too drastic. It’s also difficult to test because the discomfort takes a while to appear.

Just my n=1 personal anecdote here. I’m a bigger guy (200lb / 90.7kg) with wider than average hips and I have yet to find a tri saddle that isn’t highly uncomfortable both on the trainer and in a 70.3. I tried the first generation Wove V8 pretty extensively indoors and out and was hoping it was going to be the answer. Ultimately, the stiffness and ā€œpointierā€ front edges, combined with my high body weight, just made it a little painful for me when sitting on the extreme front. It feels like there’s too much weight on too little surface area, which is pretty common for me on a lot of different saddles. And when I shift back on it, I get significant numbness, another regular issue for me. I’m currently on the Bisaddle 3D Saint Pro which I too dislike, but this one tends to prevent numbness so sticking with it for now.
