if you laced a specialized roval star hub to a deepdish carbon rim (like a zipp 330/360 (404 rim) or 420/520 (808 rim))?

.
No.
ya that would be sweet,
and man this board has no love for Specialized whats up with that? and i bet if Cervelo or zipp came out with them people would be falling all over them self to get a set.
Dan…
well so far what we know about those roval wheels is they are heavy and not that aero.
why should we love them?
adding that star hub to a deep dish wheel would make it heavier and have minimal aero benefit since there are hardly any spoke area left anyway.
do we know that Jack? have you had a set of star hub in your hand? and not very aero? i have not really seen any thing about that yet.
post the link so we can see it. are they as aero as 808 i don’t think so but that does not make them bad.
and you may very well be right, but i don’t think we know yet.
Dan…
no.
the rovals are junk. and zipps are overproduced.
this would be a sweet wheelset.

you too can own them for the nice low price of 3500 euros.

yes, i saw aero numbers in a 3rd party test, they were not good compared to the deep dish wheels that were tested. The weight is published by roval themselves, and it is high.
let me try to find the link

walmart can make the same for a lot less.
In 2008 the Roval’s will be offered with a 48mm carbon rim. And for everyone’s information, I have used a set of Roval Star’s in a Tri and they are freakin fast! I usually ride on Hed 3’s. We have sold 5 sets of Roval Star Fusee’s in the past 4 weeks and every customer has been very happy with the performance of the wheels.
I tried out those rovals…I wasnt impressed…and im easily impressed.
.
“…and im easily impressed.”
Maybe you do not have accurate perception of your capability to be impressed???
They could cast that monobrow bike dude for the Geico caveman commercials.
Either that or unfrozen caveman lawyer on SNL.
I haven’t riden a pair yet but I would like too. Having played with them, they look like well enough built wheels and they are pretty damn cool looking. Not the lightest, but not the heaviest either. I think a 404 front and an 808 rear built up on these would be cool looking wheels especially if the “star” hub was black.
I think that combo would go perfectly with the new Specialized, which I think is butt ugly. It would look WAY better if it were all black.
Why are the Rovals allegedly good?
Why would putting those hubs on the Zipps, make the Zipps better?
Just going by looks alone, the Roval star hub would be better served by not painting them that plastic looking red. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they are Alum. stars. Might be better if the left them naked. But again, just from a looks perspective. I have never ridden them so I have no opinion on how good they actually are.

How do people know what fast is compared to other wheels when riding in different conditions?
I never understood this when someone says oh I tried a different helmet and it was FAST!
How do you know it was freaking fast? Not being offensive just wondering how people can tell that with so many other factors involved.

Why would putting those hubs on the Zipps, make the Zipps better?
I hate to break from the Specialized hate here, but that might actually make a better wheel. The claim for the hubs is that they are very narrow compared to a traditional hub, thus putting less of the spoke and hub into the wind. That would seem to only matter at very close to zero yaw angle, though, as the test above seems to show.

Only if they were dimpled.
