When I first started biking I went crazy with bike socks…I have like 40 pair…I am totally downsizing and getting rid of alot of stuff. Most of them have been worn only once. Do you guys think anyone would buy a ‘Lot’ of used socks on ebay for $1 or something? I have given a ton of stuff to Good Will and not sure they would even take them - but I hate to just throw them in the trash - doesn’t seem right.
I would not ever buy used socks. There are just some things that need to be new purchases. On the downsizing thing: how much space can you save getting rid of socks? Are your feet that big?..kj
If you think they’re good enough for E-Bay then they’re good enough for Good Will. If they are clean and don’t have holes, then someone less fortunate can likely use them. If they’re not clean, throw them in the wash and then give them to Good Will. If they have holes, throw them out.
And to answer your question - no, I would not buy socks on E-Bay.
Team Secondhand Racing. It’s an idea created here at Slowtwitch where people donate gently used cycling equipment and other tri gear to other people who need it. I think Chip is in charge of it now. I can never remember his full user name, but it’s something like “recordcarbon16”?? Can someone else help with the user name?
I agree that TSR or your local Goodwill/Salvation Army is probably a better, at least altruistic, way to go. That being said, I’m pretty convinced that it matters little WHAT you put on ebay, if you start with a low enough price, someone is going to bid on it. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”…nowhere is this more applicable than on ebay.
