Paulo’s athletes seem to run ridiculuously fast run times. While this could be a product of athlete’s natural ability, perhaps coaching has something to do with maximizing an athletes potential.
Could Bjorn do better with a switch of coaching.

not our place to say. only bjorn knows what is best for bjorn. plus he is a pretty damn good triathlete already.

Or… would Paulo be a better coach if he coached Bjorn ![]()
I don’t see why we can’t speculate. I’d say at least 50% of the posts on this forum deal with speculation, wild ass guesses and other ridiculuous commentary about triathletes, equipment, race results, etc.
Just the same as with other sports, pundits, sports writers and casual fans speculate about how well athlete’s would do with different coaches or how coaches would deal with certain athletes, etc.
I’d say fair enough. I mean, there are lots of coaches on this site, but few (if any) with Paulo’s palmares. Some pretty high level athletes. Luck with the right ones? Selective? I 'kinda doubt it.
Interesting question though and one that is sure to get a lot of responses and flak :0
Given that Jason (Bjorn’s current coach) and Paulo are both regular posters (as is Bjorn), this is a pretty classless question. Not that that’s all that unusual around here.
Define “better triathlete”. Bjorn’s overwhelming victory at Timberman says to me that mebbe he’s doing ok with things as they are.
yeah, um, he looked like a pretty good triathlete at Timberman…
Absolutely smoked some great triathletes…
I think you may find he’s found his niche at the Half.

he could, but i doubt he’s interested. have no idea about the switch you are suggesting but i know a coach who was willing to help. and no offense to paulo, but the guy i’m talking about has just a bit more of a record of success.
Since Bjorn has said repeatedly that his main problem is processing fuel in hot weather - is Paolo going to be able to confirm that all races he send Bjorn to are cold weather?
Seems to me Bjorn is doing pretty well with his current coach when they find the right weather (Timberman anyone???)

I’d say it is more like 80%! But I refuse to use this as a justification for my hypothetical wild ass guesstimate posts.
This is funny.
Why me? Because I post a lot here on ST and have a few good athletes? Because I sound authorative when I talk about training? There are plenty of coaches that post here that are pretty lame while sounding authorative. This place is not the end of it all when it comes to triathlon, you know. There are some very good coaches out there that don’t even read ST (or so they say), let alone post.
As for Bjorn, he’s friends with some pretty good coaches that I’m sure wouldn’t mind coach him. He chose not too be coached by them and that’s his right. Also his right to do whatever he wants, he doesn’t have to answer to you, me, ST or anyone.
Bjorn is not the quarterback for the Cowboys or the pitcher for the Red Sox. So why don’t we leave him alone, watch his good performances like at Timberman with joy, be sad with the bad ones like with any other triathlete and above all, let him follow his path like he chooses to.
