Worst Cover Ever

I was in spin class on Tuesday, and I heard the shittiest cover of a Guns n’ Roses song I’ve ever heard. I don’t know who sang it, but two days later, I’m still disgusted. The singer was terrible, and they absolutely butchered it. It was a cover of Mr. Brownstone. Thou shalt not blaspheme the solos of Slash!!

I just needed to express my disgust.

That may have been Axle, he’s not what he use to be…

hahahahahaha OH SNAP
.

Worst cover ever? Ahh, I don’t think so:

I know was a “Cover Songs Way WORSE than The Original” but it appears that it didn’t survive The Snap (not like anyone was looking for it?)

That business aside, and with the recent passing of Brian Wilson, I present

I honestly thought that was an SNL skit.

ETA: I should really pay attention to the dates on the original posts…

No, that’s better than the original.

Since we’re resurrecting this thread, it needs this:

Holy smoke! My dad is the worst singer I’ve ever heard, and he could have done that better than Kanye. Sometimes you just gotta know when you shouldn’t be singing a song.

“There is no pain…”

I beg to differ.

I saw this video before on “Top Ten One Hit Wonders”.

I know this thread was started 16 years ago but I will always nominate Jon Bon Jovi’s butchering of The Pogues/Kirsty MacColl’s “Fairytale of New York” as one of the worst covers.

It’s absolutely atrocious.

I’m guessing this was inspired by Deodato’s 2001?

This one includes clips, and samples of dialogue, which improves 1000%

D’Wife sent this to me (don’t ask me why)

I can’t find a direct link to YouTube for it, sorry (or you’re welcome, depending)

Let’s see, 40 years ago = June, 1985

Well - LiveAid was just a couple weeks away, and no one had tried to murder me yet

For the top Disco Jaws, I believe that was from “Top of The Pops” given the DJ present, Tony Blackburn. (He wasn’t the most liked DJ so there was a song made from his name, that was slightly twisted to go “knee Blackburn Toe / Burn Tony Black” etc.

The dancers were from Pan’s People, as the song was by Lalo Schifrin (1976).

Pan’s People was a British dance troupe best known for their performances on the BBC music show Top of the Pops from 1968 to 1976. They became a regular feature, often filling in for bands who couldn’t appear in the studio, and became more recognizable than some of the songs they danced to.
(AI Overview)

I didn’t mention but Lalo Schifrin died yesterday and is best known for probably the most famous piece of music written in 5/4. (The version in the current film is mainly 4/4 though.)

I like Neil Young, I like the song The Needle and the Damage Done, and I like Jewel. But I thought this just didn’t work. Apparently lots of people did like it judging by the comments.

I decided this thread wouldn’t be complete without the lovely (We’ve Got A) Fuzzbox (And We’re Gonna Use It).

I heard a tiny bit of this in a podcast

It is so NOT MY FUCKING TEMPO it’s painful

Looking at the comments, fans of the people like it - but it was painful. I stopped it after about 15 seconds.

Yeah, I liked it but I like them.
