How’s the new culprit bta riser working for you?
Reply from the USAT comissioner of officials on what will be enforced at the Age Group Nationals:
Tri Nationals will be conducted under current USA triathlon Rules. There will not be measureing jigs used for AG athletes. That being said, our rules include an important clause: “Efforts to add devices or engage in practices intended to circumvent the prohibition against fairings to the bicycle are prohibited.” In other words, if an athlete were to arrive with equipment that is set up in a way that is an obvious effort to circumvent the prohibition against fairings they may be required to remove that equipment.
That’s under 4.1.F, in case you’re looking for it.
So basically USAT’s taking the position of:
Cheat all you want until you get caught
How refreshing
I suggest that USAT are following the World Tri RULES but not the ‘interpretation document’ driven by enthusiastic Germans (DTU).
And make the point that egregious set ups “intended to circumvent the prohibition against fairings” will be called out when bikes are racked - so best have a plan (and some hex keys).
Sensible athletes will look at the rules (2 litres front, 2 litres rear, no fairings) and take account of the interpretation doc and set up their bottles accordingly.
Filling those bottles with ‘refreshing’ liquids.
How reasonable.
So it sounds like 2 bottles up front and in the back, plus a storage box is going to be ignored generally (but not germanly) even if it’s within reason but outside the imaginary box.
