I agree. I think it’s setting them up for trouble in the future - learning that they need to act that way to get attention.
Gross. This why American women hate themselves.

You are a fountain of wisdom.
I feel sad for these girls.

no it isn’t.
but it IS disturbing.
they are also really good at dancing.
These young ladies are very talented I just wish their parents didn’t get off on kiddie porn. It is one of many reasons American women hate themselves.
Pretty big generalization there pal. I wasn’t aware that I hate myself, nor do the vast majority of my American women friends.
Pretty sure he’s referring to the subset.
Seven year old girls shouldn’t be dressing and dancing like sex objects. It’s sad, but there’s hope in the fact that it’s still considered controversial.
I’m more disturbed by the interview of one of the girls where she talked about putting in a 120% and 220% effort.

That probably comes from the instructors.
“Baby you go out there and give 220% just like those strippers/music video dancers we brought in to do the choreography”
Yep, this is why girls dress and act like sluts.
They’re fantastic dancers, and there are plenty of other dances they could do. Like ballet ![]()
Maybe we should take a cue from conservative Islam and require all of those “sluts” to wear burqas.
Apparently misogyny is alive and well here too.

Talk about a disproportionate response.
You see disapproval of their age-inappropriate dance routine and attire as misogyny on par with militant Islam?
Really?
You really need to read the post that I specifically responded to before you make such a huge leap of logic.

If it’s a simple misunderstanding, it’s not a leap of logic.
I agree with the parents. They are at a dance, shouldn’t they be dancing and wearing dance clothes? The movement is the dance of the day. Elvis shocked the world when he danced, but he kept doing it.
The girls would be out of place walking in the mall in those clothes, but so would a triathlete if s/he wore a tri outfit.
The outfits and the dance is appropriate for the situation. The young age of the dancers only means that they are very talented KIDS. I doubt they think it’s sexual, just fun.

Elvis was a fully-clothed adult when he shook his hips behind a microphone stand. These are prepubescent girls dressing and dancing like strippers–there’s a bit of a difference, and it’s more than a matter of degrees.
It’s not so much about what the kids think of their routine as it is a normalization of sexually-suggestive attire and behavior at a ridiculously young age. So they see nothing wrong with it–do children ever fully understand the consequences of inappropriate behavior? Should we just trust their judgment and base our objections or acceptance on their horribly uninformed and immature opinions?
