There was a ESPN documentary played over last weekend about NASL, the pro soccer league which brought Péle to NYC
I had no idea that the Philadelphia franchise (owned, in part, by Rick Wakeman, Paul Simon, and Peter Frampton) passed on some Argentinian kid named Maradona because “he was too small”

As we were driving up to Syracuse last month, we went past a local soccer field near the PA Turnpike
I noticed that their scoreboard had two black squares each for Home and Away teams to post their goal count
It occurred to me that it must’ve been a repurposed scoreboard, or the soccer field used to be a football field, because there’s almost never been a soccer score in double digits
