World Cup 2026

You are completely missing the point of the World Cup and football - it’s not meant to be only for the rich.

I don’t think he was saying that. He was saying that the stadiums will still sell regardless of the ticket prices.

Despite the high prices, the demand has been there for tickets.

500 million requests for about 1 billion tickets; Applicants will hear by Feb if they’ve got tickets. Those that didn’t get tickets will likely look to the secondary market - and pay even more. Lots of other interesting info in the article . . .

You need to wonder how many of those 500M requests are from people or entities who only want to resell anyways.

If anyone is missing that point, it’s FIFA!

Flowers on Valentine’s Day are at least double normal price. I told my wife when we started dating I’d never give her flowers on Valentine’s Day for that very reason.

That’s very true. And venues/amenities for weddings are more expensive than non. I remember I hung up on a car service company when we were booking our wedding. Once he realized jt was for a wedding he said “oh it’s a wedding, one second I quoted the wrong price list.”

Same people, same amount of time, but for some reason the type of event we were going to made jt more expensive.

Still restaurants don’t feel the need to do this. Odd

I got an example… but it’s where restaurants may lower the price not raise it. But it’s not the same price example…

Party of x people for an event - prearranging the menu ahead of time is usually cheaper than if the same x people showing up and ordered the exact same dishes anyway.

Interesting article from the Athletic on what needs to be done and what’s underway… (Gift link, so should be accessible to all).

ps - now I know why some stadiums still use (and will go back to) artificial turf instead of grass.
