Work trip to Denver

Hey guys,

I am going to Denver this month and next month and I want to hit a few good Colorado runs or Swims. Any suggestions?
We will be in Centennial at the Embassy suites. Looking for a pool and some good trails.

Thanks

There doesn’t seem to be much really close to the Embassy Suites, but there appear to be some choices within a short drive.
A quick look at swimmersguide.com yielded this: http://www.swimmersguide.com/selectfacility.aspx?cid=8322
I dug around a little more and found a link to the masters team at the Godson Recreation Center.

I am sure inquiring minds want to know how this turns out.
There’s also a pretty cool place in Centennial called SwimLabs, where you can get your stroke video’d and analyzed and given drills to improve your swimming.
I don’t know if they do it at this one, but at the one near us, you can pay just to swim in the endless pool, if that floats your boat…

No trails where you are at. Cherry Creek state park isn’t too far (2 miles) and there are plenty of places to run, both trails and paths and the highline canal is maybe 3 miles away, which is a nice city dirt 6’ foot wide path through Denver. The highline is a nice place to run, I always park at the lot off Orchard - two miles west of I25.

If you have a car and time I would recommend the following runs:

Waterton Canyon - SW Denver 6 miles up the canyon then you connect to Colorado Trail.
Trails around Red Rocks
Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs
Plenty of trails along the front range west side of Denver, just search front range mountain bike trails. All about a 1/2 to an hour drive provided its not rush hour. From your hotel C470 West, which is bad at rush hour.
I run at Greenland Open Space, probably 25 miles south of you on I25 - Great views of Pikes Peak on Greenland trail and Kipps Loop. Mostly high open prairie compared to the front range trails. You can connect from Greenland over to the Spruce mountain trails on the other side of the road, which is more in the trees.

As for pools, check DU for masters. My wife swims at Athletic Club Inverness and they have a fairly good masters program - maybe 2 miles from your hotel. There is a 24 hour fitness there as well.

For running, look up the Highline Canal. You should have fairly easy access to it from Centennial. I would run north from there. That’s my go-to spot for long runs in Denver.

Swimming: most communities in CO have rec centers where you can pay a daily fee for entry. Godsen, which Karen mentioned, is right on the Highline Canal, but I am not a huge fan of their pool.
