I’d forgotten where The Woodlands was situated in relation to Houston, but now that my geography has been brought back up to speed, I think I may be in need of a hotel for the weekend of November 10; friends in Pearland are just a tad too far away. Any suggestions for hotels with decent rates for racers and/or teachers? Any (useful) information would be much appreciated. In advance, thank you.//d
Yep, Pearland would be quite a haul to The Woodlands. Here’s a link to hotels in The Woodlands area. The two mentioned on the 101 website (Marriot and the Woodlands Resort) are not going to be too budget minded unless they have some special rate. The Marriot would be the closest but probably the most expensive.
Hotels still within reasonable walking distance would be the Hilton Garden Inn and the Drury Inn. The others would require a car, especially some of the ones that have Conroe in the address.

There is a Residence Inn, on Six Pines Drive, I think that I’ve stayed in a few times before. Last year I got it for $99/night and it was a suite. I will probably stay there again for the 101.
Via the website (Marriot site, linked from the 101 site), it says the Marriott is sold out for that night. I guess maybe you have to call to get the “special rate” and see if they do have rooms. I find it hard to imagine they are sold out already.
I forgot about the Residence Inn. That would be another good location. It and the Hilton Garden are close to each other. Here’s a hot link to the page I referenced above that didn’t appear because I was using Safari last night at home: http://www.woodlandsonline.com/cdps/keyword.cfm?sgid=6&ckid=345&cid=24
Btw, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Marriot is already sold out. It’s sold out nearly every night of the year now days.
QRgrl, Katy and I got a suite at the Residence Inn Houston The Woodlands on Lake Front Circle for a pretty good price.
