Watching the final right now between USA and Netherlands. Just started but should be a humdinger. Been watching a lot of the games and been very entertained. What I really like is the lack of dives that you see in the men’s game. Same sort of reason I like women’s hockey - the lack of fighting, just good hockey. Anyone else been watching.

My sister in law is Dutch (and you can’t tell her much 
and my wife has a partial Dutch heritage, so I have no choice but to root for Holland. 0 - 0 at half time. The USA has controlled the ball more, but can’t break through the Dutch defense as yet. Nasty mid air collision between two players just before the whistle blew.
Dutch keeper seems to be on one of those days.
Been watching. Lack of dives is refreshing. Quality of play has really improved.

US pretty much owned the ball in that match.
Maybe maybe not. I don’t want to take anything away from Rose Lavelle’s goal. That was a pure shot.
The only one the NED keeper didn’t save (PKs don’t count). She was on point today, could have easily been 5-0 with a lesser keeper.
Crap. I missed it. Didn’t realize it was on so early.
I very much enjoyed all the matches that I’ve watched – 3 or 4. I too like the lack of dives (Morgan excepted as noted).
Also most of the women on the top teams have superb skills and can make incredible plays. To me, the only difference between the women and the men is the speed, but I don’t miss the speed.
I kinda like watching the women more than the men.
Only thing I didn’t like was the woman commentator on matches I watched previously, her slow droning analysis during the fast paced play was distracting (as is almost all analysis).
I was a traitor as I rooted for both France and England to beat the USA. Grudgingly I became more of a USA fan as I watched as the positive qualities of many of the players outweighted my dislike of the purple-headed poser and the SI swimsuit flopper. Particularly, I like watching Rose Lavelle with the ball.

I don’t see that when I watch them. I see what to me seems like considerably more bad touches, poor clearances, poor choices, and misplaced passes. If I had to bet I’d put money on more mistakes in comparable level men versus women games.
Given how women are developed (haphazardly and then college) vs. how men are developed (professional academies from young ages), I’d be extremely surprised if using any sort of objective metric the women would come out just as skilled.
I don’t know if it says anything about this or not, but apparently the US women played FC Dallas academy’s U15 boys team before the tournament and lost 5-2.
