I bought a used older model zipp 404 wheel off a friend in a nearby city and when I got it home a couple days ago I noticed the hub flange on one side seems to be crooked, maybe 1/16 inch runout when I spin the wheel and it seems to cause the bearings to bind a little.
I can just return the wheel to hime, but I’m wondering if Zipp would be able to fix it up for a reasonable price and if others have had similar issues? The flange seems to be glued to a tube that runs through the middle. It’s not loose but the hub seems like it must have deformed at some point.
Any experiences rebuilding these wheels? Was this a common issue?
