I’ve just realised i’ve never paid much attention to the hub torque and crank torque values of my power files in WKO. Looking at the numbers now, they both seem to increase somewhat linearly with power output. Is there any useful information to be gleaned from these numbers or are they just a red herring?
power = torque x angular momentum OR
power = torque x 2(pi) x rotational speed

ok… but can i do anything with the numbers? can i use them to chek if the hub is working correctly for example, or use it to analyse the ride in any way?
for the first part, zeroing the torque is a part of calibration procedure for accuracy. for the second part, i think you can try to get an idea of optimal cadence for a specific power level. I am not a power expert but you can experiment with different gearing and cadences to determine optimal torque and watts.

Or you could use it to figure out that cadence is a red herring.
You can use hub torque to check the accuracy of the PT. In conjunction with a couple of other variables, you can use it to estimate crank torque or pedal force should you want to do a QA-type analysis.
