With all this pissing talk

I’ve never needed to pee during a race. The longest race to date has been a half and when I finished the race I immediatly needed to go but I think my system shuts down during racing. I’ve never had the urge to piss during competitions, whether it be high school football, wrestling, baseball, cycling you name it. If I’m in a competition I just don’t go… Now I’ll mention that my nerves before a race flushes my system. Once I have my wetsuit on and I’m in the water I can easily say that I piss 3, 4, 5 times before the race begins and maybe even once when I’m swimming along… I believe I hydrate properly, maybe even too much but I’ve never been treated for dehydration.

How about others? Does your plumbing shut down.

…and let me say, some of y’alls parents seriously failed ya during childhood.

I usually pee a few times in a long ride or race such as a half IM or marathon. The one time i didn’t was a 50 mile mtn bike race. I had crashed and whacked my ribs a week or so earlier, was sore but otherwise ok, I thought. Rode the 50 miles and thought it odd that I didn’t pee despite drinking a full camelback a couple of times.

After the race I went to pee, a tiny little trickle of dark red pee… $3,000 of cat scan later turns out I had a blod clot in my kidney, from the earlier crash. Spent the night on an IV as they tried to pump me up with fluids to make me pee and force the blot clot out. Wasn’t pretty.

After all that I was too far from home, out of my network and damm insurance didn’t pay a nickel, so I had payments every months to the hospital for 2 years or so to work off my debt

Since then always glad to have to go and I have mastered the art of peeing while on the bike.
