Wireless internet is great

Well today I joined the 21st century and signed up for wireless internet. It’s cool to take my laptop into any room in the house or even around the backyard pool once it warms up. Before you roll your eyes, don’t forget that I live in a rural area and wireless internet has only just become available. We’ve only had high speed out here in the boonies for a few years. The world is becoming a smaller place.

When you say “signed up for wireless internet” do you mean that you’re paying your Internet Service Provider to give you wireless access? A better option would likely be to stick with wired highspeed (via cable or phone line) and then set up your own (private) wireless network.

What Khai said (although you get it with an English accent from me)

It sounds so much sexier when you type it.

Only if wired is available. My officemate is only able to get wireless access as his city doesn’t have the infrastructure for wired access – old cable and phone lines, etc.

But, yeah, wired all the way.

Woo-hoo!

Who is your provider?

When you say “signed up for wireless internet” …
It all depends on what your application is and in small rural areas, wireless maybe the only thing that is available. And if you have a broadband wireless service, there is nothing to stop you from incorporating a local wireless network in your home. And the OP did not state what his wireless speed is, some are just as fast as low end wired broadband.

I find the transfer rate speeds good but its a few more seconds delay start send/rec. Cat5 cable is quicker , old security had issues with neighbors access.
I got tired of the 4-5 hour battery dieing in 1.5 , even with a spare battery it was a pain . There are 6 networks around my home 2 have no password . Its easy to connect even homes 100 -200 ft away .
