I am looking to make the move from a wired bicycle computer to a wireless one. The two wireless computers at the top of my list are the CatEye Double Wireless Speed/Cadence Cycle Computer (CD300DW) and the Mavic Wintech Wireless Computer with Cadence. I like the CatEye because you can have three lines of display information simultaneously. The Mavic is nice because the front skewer contains the transmitter. I would like whatever computer I purchase to be mountable on the stem as opposed to the handlebars.
Here are my questions … any of you have any experience with either of these computers? Which one would you recommend? If I have missed another brand of wireless computer with cadence which would be preferable, which would it be. Any and all suggestions and feedback are encouraged and most welcomed.
I have the Mavic version and never looked back. Rain, sun, wind, an Ironman, a Half and 4000 training miles…
My only question for Mavic would be why I can’t seem to find replacement crank magnets for the cadence without buying a new cadence kit. The crank magnet did not survive shipment to a race when the pedals got removed. I replaced it with a filed down spare spoke magnet I had in my closet and some clear packing tape. Works.
I’ve got the cat eye double wireless and it interferes with my heart rate monitor and vice versa. If you’re going to spend the $ on a wireless, and you use a HR monitor, get one that has a HR monitor incorportated into it.
I would also add Vetta’s wireless models - you can even get a version with HR. I’ve had mine for over a year and haven’t had a problem. A nice plus is they aren’t too expensive. I think I paid around $100 USD for it with the wireless cadence. Check their site at
Not trying to hijack your thread…but I’ve since taken my computer off each bike and just use my Garmin Forerunner for everything. Since I have naturally high candence and don’t measure power, it’s a beautiful tool…
Just thought I’d throw a different perpective into your options…
I use the Mavic and really like it. Very reliable. Only thing I miss is that you cannot (to my knowledge) simultaneously diaplay certain combinations of information that I like; for instance, distance traveled and time elapsed. You can view the time elapsed, then press a button to view the distance. But, as with anything, I am growing accustomed to that. It’s a great computer.
I’ve got the Mavic and also use a HR monitor. No problems with either. My stem is somewhat diamond-shaped, which made mounting the computer a little odd, but it all seems to be working OK.
I too have the Mavic - having formerly owned the Cateye
Both Great computers - in my own opinion - the Mavic wins hands down.
The Cateye mount was difficult to line up on the chainstay - and the computer itself did not mount to the stem without spinning it around.
The mavic is clean - stem mounts perfectly - the transmitter being in the skewer is SO clean.
To Quadzilla’s point - not being able to display multiple pieces of information at once is a litle upsetting at first - but it is a VERY easy computer to scroll though on the fly
No interference with my wrist mounted Polar S210. I really expected more glitches or interference but it seems fine, even in pack riding (where I’m sure there are some other HR monitors and a few other wireless putes).
Do you need/want cadence?? I have the Cateye Double Wireless w/ cadence, but now switched to the new Cateye Micro Wireless…Love it!! Small, stem mounted, easy installation. Once I got an idea of what different cadences felt like I didn’t use the cadence feature…
