anyone else struggle with this? swimming is fine, but cycling and running. urgh.
training in the dark, the wet, inside. what do other people on here do to keep motivated?

LOL!! I am the opposite! I can bike/run in the winter… it’s swimming that kills me. I hate walking on the cold pool deck while shivering and running to the locker room!
Are you in the Southern Hemisphere? Move to a temperate climate. Ducks and geese stay year round where I live.
yes. i live in new zealand.
Ditto here. Not so much cause the weather change, but the amount of daylight. Its hard to get on the treadmill or trainer when its dark out…rather be outside! Swim indoors most the time though, so swimming is easy to keep up
Watching a good cycling movie or documentry gets my modivation going. Plus scheduling some events over the winter helps. Southwest has lots of events in Nov, Dec, and Jan.

I rent movies and watch them on the trainer. This takes care of 90-120 mintues of cycling per day. For running I warm up on my cyclocross bike on the way to the local running trails or track and field areas and then run a bit and then ride home easy. When it rains though, I stay home. Takes too much effort to stay warm when it’s wet and cold.
Go to Mexico you can do all3 allyear round
.
How about San Diego, and then you don’t have to move to a third world country or worry so much about being kidnapped for ransom?
…just got to worry about how to afford a house, gas, and food. Good trails and bike lanes though…when they weren’t washed out.
This winter was miserable in San Diego, WAY to much rain for us soCal peeps, didn’t have the right gear for riding or running.

I visited a bit in January. Just go to the ADT event center. They had a couple of triathlon training camps during the winter. Also, you could setup a pursuit bike and do lots and lots of laps indoors. Running is another story.
Come on, it’s the first day of summer. Go out and enjoy it!
Ah…yes yes, now I have an excuse to get another bike!!!MUHAHAHAHA.
Like I needed an excuse to lust for another bike

you are right, but you can use it to your advance, imagine riding in front of a pick up truck loaded with bad guys chasing you thorough your anaerobic threshold for more than 8 bolcks.
you saddling up for ironman again Fulla-san?
I imagine NZ is a bit like where I am - Melbourne Australia, except a few degrees colder. Here it’s about 12 as a max, and 8 as a min, but it’s always wet. Cleaning my bike every ride gets old really fast. Not much I can say to inspire you, but I got out before work for 80k this morning, and it was dry.
yeah i am doing im again
.
Not really, I ride 8 months, swim and run 12 months. I love running in snow and cold. Enjoy the cold weather…
