Winter Running/Cycling Gloves Suggestions

Looking for a nice warm pair of Winter Gloves for running and riding. It’s been so freagin cold here I actually had to run with my ski gloves one evening(12 degreees).

Just wondering what you guys use? I have pair of Cannodales I use for both running and riding but they are only good around 30 degrees. Looking for something that will keep my hands warm when it the temp drops under 20 degrees. My hands get cold fairly easy!

Thanks

Ski gloves

I own a couple pairs of dedicated cycling cold weather gloves (Louis Garneau and some P.I. lobster gloves) but really I could use my ski gloves. The main difference is thy ski gloves usually do not try and add friction to the fingers, and are nicer (e.g. leather) at the same price point, but some may not breathe as well. The reason I keep them all is that it is easier to make sure I actually have gloves hen I show up to teach skiing!

I’ve found the warmest (at least in my experience) gloves are a pair of “glittens” I purchased for cheap at Target. They’re gloves cut off that have a cover you can flip to cover or uncover your exposed fingertips.

The exposed fingers keep them in contact with each other when inside the cover and help keep them warm. And its science! http://boingboing.net/2013/01/19/science-proves-that-you-should.html

For running I just bought and used the Brooks Utopia 3-n-1 Mitten. Yesterday was in the low teens, I wore both layers and my wands were sweaty, which never happens unless I’m wearing my huge Pearl Izumi Amphib gloves with a knit glove as a liner. The 3-n-1 is now my go to COLD weather glove.

Unfortunately they won’t help you with riding.

Castelli Estremo glove (http://castelli-cycling.com/en/products/detail/713/). They are excellent – warm, not bulky, grippy. Looks like they are currently 20% off at Competitive Cyclist.

I have a pair of Craft lobster claw style gloves that have changed my winter riding life. My hands also get cold pretty readily but these are fantastic. I layer a pair of thin Defeet gloves underneath. When its really cold (around 10-15F) I add the liner the Craft lobsters come with, or another set of gloves, in addition to the defeet layer. Best combo I’ve found yet. Totally fine for training or commuting.

Thanks for the input!
