Winter Gear Fabric?

I was in a running store a few weeks ago and they showed me a fabric that actually generates heat when it gets wet. They had these sample fabric kits they put in your hand and dripped water onto the fabric. It actually got hot the more water they put on it. I can’t remember the name of the fabric or the brand? Does anybody know the name or have any experience using it? Thanks!

No, but I’ve had GREAT experiences running in the cold or rain in merino wool. Sheds water, is a good temperature regulator and does not seem to overheat.

I had a long sleeve jersey & a pair of fall/winter tights from Mizuno that had the same stuff woven in.

Nice gear & has lasted very well, but I could not perceive any heat generated when in contact with sweat. I tried the same in store demo & it was impressive. I seem to recall that the demo was with a wad of 100% of the material whereas there was only a small percentage of the material woven into the fabric i.e. 4%.

Yeah, it’s called Breath Thermo and like speedy says, it’s in Mizuno stuff. Never tried it though, other than the sample like you have.

I would be worried that I would be caught in a downpour and explode.

Yeah, I’ve got one of those Breathe Thermal tops from Mizuno with the stuff in it. Very nice top. I can wear it in pretty cold temps and be fine. I’ve never felt actual heat generation, but it really keeps me warm.
