The snow is about to fall and I’m wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for winter cycling shoes. These will be used on my mountain bike for most of the time along with the occasional road ride.
I’m looking for warmth, waterproof, traction, and a reasonable price. If I can buy them in Canada that’s even better.
If it’s cold enough that I can’t get by with my road shoes and booties, the I will not be riding outside.
The again, I am “retired” now so if I miss a few days, week even, who cares! Not me.
Seriously, all the major shoe manufacturers have winter shoes. I am sure that you will find something. I think he MEC carries the Sidi winter MTB shoes.
Get one size bigger than normal so your feet have lots of room and your circulation isn’t reduced - this makes a big difference. If it’s going to be really wet and slushy - use plastic bags on your feet.
I have Sidi’s winter shoe…but I still need to wear booties.
So…I’d just say get a pair of Pearl’s Toasters and wear some wool/polypro ski socks. If it gets really cold, you’ll need warming packs under your toes (not very comfy). Any colder, I don’t ride…but that usually does the trick to about 15 degrees.
