Just got my first PDA type phone (HTC Mogul) with windows mobile 6 because I didn’t want to pony up the extra $30 to use a Blackberry on the Sprint network.
So I have 30 days to test drive it and wanted to know if any of you are using a phone with windows mobile 6 that can comment on the pros/cons of it? Anyone know any good sites for windows mobile freeware?
Thanks Dave. Thats a nice site, but it wouldn’t let me download free stuff without putting in my credit card info!
handango.com. Some free, most with 15-30 day trials.
If you depend on mobile email, pony up for the blackberry. It changed the way I communicate with clients.
I tried the mogul… battery life was terrible, sometimes wouldn’t last a day… went back to a Blackberry pearl (and will probably be moving to a Curve if T-mob ever drops the price).
As mentioned, battery life may be an issue. My experience is based on 6700s and Moto Q’s using Mobile 5. They “may” have addressed it in v6. Although, the new Moto Q’s with v6 are now shipping with extended batteries.
But, back to your phone. You can find a lot of info at http://pdaphonehome.com/ . Kinda the ST of PDAs. I didn’t see a forum specific to the Mogul, which is odd. There is one for the OS.

Thanks for this info…the battery life does seem a bit crappy but then I am usually near a charger so maybe not such a big issue for me.
I’ve got an AT&T Tilt (aka HTC Tytn II) and found that my battery life got a lot better if I only turned on Bluetooth and Wireless ethernet when I needed them. A bit more active management than I expected but not too bad.

I was torn over the Moto Q9c and the Mogul. I liked the Q9c best until I went into the store and saw how big it was and that extended battery hanging off the back was brutal looking. I also like the touch screen on the Mogul but according to the specs the Q9c battery had quite a bit more life to it.
FWIW, I have a PPC-6700 (the Mogul is a PPC-6800) with a 3200 mAh and it will easily get me through a day. Downside is that it looks like my phone is pregnant and it’s tough to fit in the saddle wedge.
Here is a good site for accessories for the Mogul.
