We are setting up a wind tunnel session this winter at Allied Aerospace - looking for anyone interested in going - have 2-3 slots available. Cut and dry: 1 hour each in the tunnel trying different TT positions and equipment, measurements taken and advice given by experts in coaching and aerodynamics. Same coach/aero folks that positioned Floyd Landis in the tunnel earlier this year.
PM me with your info and I will get back with you on pricing next week when my coach gets it to me. I am thinking an Oct/November timeline.
Not sure of the cost, but I am working that out right now, tunnel time/coaching time will be split 6 ways.
This is not associated with any other company and is totally independent, not for profit, put together by a group athletes who want to get some information to improve their aerodynamics.
Out of all the guys in the world you picked brother Floyd. I am glad to hear there was a wind tunnel involved in his position, cause he goes fast and looks like shit. Old John Cobb told me that a bunch of times that just because it looks swoopy dosn’t mean it goes fast. But then (sorry guys) if Lance sent in his picture we would all harp in about lower in front, elbows too wide, seat too high yada yada.
I appreciate you offering this service to the bros on the forum. I would almost garoontee that will be money better spent than buying a new bike for most folks.
A group of us just want to get into the tunnel to get set up with the fastest position, and check some equipment/helmets to find out what works best for each of us.
It’s not exactly cheap, but if the advice given helps gets a rider on the podium, or sets a new PR, then it will certainly be worth it, IMHO.
Also interesting in the clothing and wheels tested that day, I was surprised to see certain wheels and materials tested no faster than others that appeared ‘less aero’.
Update: I have had 6 emails of interested participants, if you want to get in on this wind tunnel adventure, get me a PM asap, and I will get you pricing and details when I get them this week
