Alright folks. The first annual Slowtwitch Haiku contest begins today. Reply to this post with your best Haiku. Deadline is noon on Friday. The winner, chosen by me, gets a free wetsuit out of my personal inventory (approximately 50 new, 2003 and 2004 models, mostly QR, in a range of models and sizes). I should have a size to fit everyone. If not, you can pick a size to fit a friend, spouse, or anyone you want, but what I’ve got is what I’ve got.
There are two rules: 1) It must be a Haiku, 2) It must be acceptable for family (Slowtwitch) consumption. I’ll select the winner Friday afternoon and send you a Private Message. It’ll go out within 24 hours of you sending me your mailing address. Pretty simple.
What is Haiku?
Haiku is one of the most important forms of traditional japanese poetry. Haiku is, today, a 17-syllable verse form consisting of three metrical units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Count 'em, people.
For example (from the movie Fight Club):
worker bees can leave
even drones can fly away
the queen is their slave
Just as a note, I am doing this cuz my dad has a birthday tommorow and I need to get him a present. The water here is warm in 90% of the races so a wetsuit will encourage him to sign up for an IM/HIM in Europe or the US.
