Will XLAB Torpedo fit between my aerobars (see pictures!)

I have spent a long time perfecting my cockpit for comfort and will not alter it to fit a water bottle. I am very Interested in the XLAB Torpedo 100 or 400 but want to know if you think it will fit with my aerobars (notice that I have the bars turned inward, limiting the space between the extensions). I want to know if I will be able to use the entire set-up including the computer mount. (I will definitely remove my current watch mount)

Will I have trouble with all between the bar drink systems with my current set-up?

No.

Ziptie a cage to the stem (have to lose the computer mount), or get a HED lollipop or Topcap from KingCage (both below).

Thanks for the info. I’ll look into those options. Can you still mount a computer (or watch like I have: 310XT) in a visible location up front?

Doubtful. You’d probably have to mount it near the grips on your aerobars. The computer might still fit w/the KingCage, but the torpedo bottle would obscure the view.

You really want the NSA to know your wattage?

So best just to wear my 310XT on my wrist and slightly pronate my forearm every once in a while to read? There must be other people out there that ride bars like me and want a BTA hydration system + want to see their cycling computer

At least I hope I’m not the only one…

I do the wrist turn trick.

It is hard to tell without knowing dimensions. My guess is it will be very tight if it does fit and that would be just the system, I don’t see you being able to put a computer on there as there are no extra extensions at the back to be able to bring the system back towards you.

Can you email these pictures to our customer service and they will be able to ask you the needed dimensions? I would help but I will be away from the office this morning. You can reach them at info@xlab-usa.com.

I use a X-lab bottle mount using a regular bottle for hand-ups (no straw or refilling…personal preference) and face the bottle backwars and mount the computer just in front of the bottle. I use a single strap on the X-lab mount around my stem and the other front straps around the extensions. This should also work with a bottle with straw, but only one that can face backwards. You elbow pads look to be a LOT wider than mine. My forearms are just far enough apart for the bottle (I actually had to slide them apart a little) and my forearms craddle the cage. I use a Chimp cage so it’s nice anf flast and smooth.

I have a 100 and use the computer mount out front for a Garmin 500…

Not knowing your dimensions, just looking at it based on the stem thickness, bar diameter, etc…

IT LOOKS LIKE…

Your pads are as wide or wider than mine (might be photo distortion from how close it is?). You have a tighter inward angle on your extensions, but the bases start out just about as wide as mine.

My forearms touch the bottle for most of the length. The computer is setting between the bases of my thumbs, touching (convenient riding at night or evenings, I can just rock my hand in very slightly to let the back of my middle thumb knuckle press the light button). Using the back hole and the straw straight up, I barely have to tip my head down/back to reach the straw, in the front hole, the straw stands up just in front of my mouth, so I have to reach forward a bit. It could come back a bit and still be in the shadow of my elbows. I have about a half inch between the torpedo mount and my extensions at the front (bit over a quarter inch on both sides).

So it LOOKS LIKE, you could anchor the Torpedo mount farther back, maybe even use some double side foam tape to build a spacer/pad on your stem and zip tie or use the supplied bands to tie the tail to your stem. Moving the mount back, you’d have more room for the mount than I have, putting it somewhere between your wrists instead of between your hands like mine.

But if you don’t want anything to touch your forearms, then you might not have enough room for any BTA set up.

Yep. I wear my 910 on the inside of my wrist for the swim and bike, then rotate it for the run. I can almost read it without rolling my wrist, but not quite.
