Will Tyler Hamilton's relay team break 8hrs at Silverman?

Only four teams are competing for the $100,000, and to win it a team must break 8 hours (Iron distance)

Do you think Tyler’s bike split will be in the 4:10 to 4:20 range? Race is Sunday

That will be exciting to watch. Looks like a pretty nasty bike course though, so I’d think 4:10 would be pretty damn tough … Swimmer should have it down. Runner will be close too.

So John Kenny’s team fell through?

Your swim +T <50 easily (likely 100+ guys in southern cal who could do this)

Run <2:30 with a decent elite runner (you’d need a reliable 2:15 guy who is CONSISTENT). This would be fairly tough to find…

Bike - If your rider can go under 4:30 - then your team should easily break 8. I think <4:30 would be tough for ANYONE. I’d be amazed if Tyler goes <4:20 and even 4:30 will be tough. 4:40 gives you a decent shot at <8. >4:40 and its a stretch…

But its all guess work - with 4-5 strong relays - we should get a good idea tomorrow whats possible…

Wish I could be there.

Dave

I’d lke to see Bjorn kick Tylers arse.!

So John Kenny’s team fell through?

No, they are all here. Apparently entered to late to make the last list update but I am told they are official. They are off registering now.

Me, too.

“Me, too.”

I think you meant “Me too.”

Couldn’t let that one pass, coming from you

And for record, me too!

Or perhaps I meant: Me? Also.

Just you and Jesus left in the perfect club now

“And for the record” never start a sentence with never. Check your grammatical rules.

Actually, he meant “I too,” and “never” is a fine word with which to begin a sentence. Welcome to modern AmE, mate.

Bugger, I meant never start a sentence with And! Damn fingers! I can assure you that I didn’t mean “I too” just as I would never say “you and me” but “you and I”.

As for modern AmE, that represents a lowering of standards common to the modern world. Churchill had it right when he said we were “two countries separated by a common language”.

i was told by a grammatical genius that the proper use of I/Me is determined by removing the other person from the equation.

in this sense, I would like to see them kick tyler’s ass fits better than Me would like to see them kick tyler’s ass…thus it might be I too instead of Me Too!

but WTF…“me three!!!”

Tyler’s team will win, I am confident that they will go well under 8 hrs

7:36:22, there that’s my prediction.

Dave Dave, it’s going to be great. The weather is much better today so now it’s just the course. I agree with what you wrote. Am interested in how the local Vegas Connection team will do. The swimmer, Jim Huff, is a masters guy who in a meet did 23 and change in the 50. Plus great in the fly. Pretty much what you said of SO. Cal. The cyclist, bike shop owner Richard Craig, Cat 1 guy. I know him and he is good but don’t think he can pull off what you said is needed. The runner, Ethiopian Abebe Yimer, based here Vegas. PB of 2:18:00 Normally I race and don’t spectate. But I got to tell you, I am excited about this. Will load up the truck with bike and run stuff. After helping out after the swim, will ride a out-and-back 20 along the initial route to get a feel for what the riders will be facing, then a t-run. Then later in the day, get out on the run course. This is going to be so cool. Got to get going; its 0501 and have to leave for the lake in about 45 minutes.

Your remarks on modern AmE are shared.

You should, however, stick to my advice and say “I too”–unless, of course, you really are saying: “Me too would like to see Bjorn kick Tylers arse.”

Never begin a sentence with “and”? Yikes. You really are a pedant. Even my British colleagues at my university have given that one up. Or, rather, have given up that one.

Whichever way it should be, I applaud your spelling of arse correctly instead of the relative of a Donkey
.

Since you’re bringing it up, please tell me :

What is the difference between “arse” and “ass”?

Your arse is what you cover with your cycle shorts when you ride your bike to train and your ass is what you ride to market carrying your baskets of produce.

I understand the donkey part but is it still right to say (or write) “ass” for buttocks? or do we really need to say arse? Is it the same for america (I think here we say “arse”) than UK?

I can’t speak for amE or the UK but in England it is arse not ass.
