More than likely YES.
Last year they showed the swim start, but only at the beginning. No shots of the mass swim out in the lake. Then the camera was on the re-entry point to the lake. Once the first people started coming out of the water, Welchie (Greg Welch, IMlive.com commentatory) did his thing, and then they canged over to where athletes were leavng transition for the bike course. After the swim cut-off time (9:20) not too much happens.
The live feed usually picks up again at the finish line about 30 minutes or so before the overall winner arrives. Once they start to cross, the camera position becomes staioned to watch them run down the last 100m or so.
Due to the early pro start, you may get early coverage, but then again maybe not.
Yes- Ironman Live will have a camera at the finishline. The local cable channel also has a camera, so local can watch each finihers. Be sure to tune in for the last 15 min and see Max Ralph and myself finish. Z
Ironmanlive wasn’t live for Ironman CDA till about 4pm…kind of a bummer. I personally would watch all day if they just kept a camera on the leaders.

If you know your finishing time already does this mean the race is fixed? I always had a suspicion, as I just don;t understand how some of these people go so fast. I understand, however, how you go so slow. Are you and Max, being IM insiders, part of this overall conspiracy?
Frank - Let’s just say that with the amount of training that Max and I have been doing for this year’s race, anything under 17 hours will be an accomplishment.
We do plan on enjoying the bike ride - stopping for a few pictures with volunteers at aid stations. The second loop is always tough and we will attempt to finish the bike before the first women crosses the finish line. (might have had a chance at this if they were not sending the women off 35 min. before us in the swim.)
The run/walk is always a good time as we enjoy the sites and sounds of an evening in Lake Placid and the country-side.
The best part is the section through town - starting at the downhill grill, going past the Oval and around the lake - we always pick up our pace in town.
See you next week! Z
Will Max and yourself stop for dinner this year? I heard one year you were seen eating a steak at one of the Lake Placid restaurants hours before finishing. Any truth to this?
That is an out right lie - I was eating a steak at my condo! I did not have outside assistance as I cooked it myself as my wife and kids worked the aid station in front of the condo.
To think that anyone would accuse me of cheating by accepting outside assistance! I just can not believe it!
Kevin - I hope the next time you hear such things that you take that person aside and tell him or her the real story!
Now - eating a hot dog at an aid station is OK, as the aid station is providing the hot dogs to the vounteers and they just happened to have a few extra - we would not want to waste a good hot dog, so…
