You can research this since I think Tom Z put updates on the twitch last year. I think there were 90 spots left a month out. Search for Tom Ziebart posts and you can get a feel. I would knock off a few months since triathlon is becoming more and more “in fashion” every year. Call and reserve a cabin at Ft Wilderness now, you can always cancel that but those go faster than the race spots.
I think I registered about 3-4 weeks out this year and got a room at the Wilderness Lodge. I had to pay out the ass for the room on that short notice but that’s where you want to be unless you are going to camp at Fort Wilderness. Disney property isn’t real bike friendly.
It’s a good trip if you or your family likes Disney, but standing on concrete all day for the 3 days leading up to the race probably isn’t the best race prep. Aside from seeing the monorail on a small section of the run you wouldn’t ever know you were at Disney World during the race.

Oh you will know your there when you get the bill. 25 bucks for a 5th of scotch…ouch. I would do the race the then vacation also the pounding you take chasing kids in 90 degree heat takes a toll. You can rent a cabin at Camp Wilderness they are essentially single wides with a cabin feel. Since they have a kitchen they are a pretty good deal since you can cook your own meals and do a little quality control. Also rent a golf cart for the day before and day of the race your family will love it.
