Will Contador be huge in Spain?

There was not much excitement in the states when Lance won his first Tour. I imagine in Europe cycling is a much bigger deal than here. Will they have parades for Contador, will he get tons of new endorsements?

He is young, if he keeps his focus maybe he could win 7?

Only if he has access to LA medicine cabinet.

Definitely. The spaniards are cycling freaks and cause he won the tour so early in his career - as Ullrich did - I’m sure he will win it again (Ullrich didn’t though).

That’s the problem, every new rider is the next miguel Indurain or Lance Armstrong. Yes he’s young, just like the last rider who was young and had such bold prognostications for tour success, Jan Ullrich…

Yes it’s huge for spain (although concievably in the long run, their second consecutive victory if Pererio is named winner for last year), and he’ll be huge, but let’s take it a year at a time, he has to join the club of two-time winners before he can join the club of 7 time winners…

Did you see the roads from the mountain stage he won? His freaking name was written in huge letters across the entire road every couple meters. Not only will Spain crown him as a hero, I think it is pretty safe to say spain absolutely dominated the non-existant “who is the best cycling nation” competition for the 2007 tour. They had the winner, 3 of the top 5, and 6 of the top 10. That is insane! It is pretty clear that those who like to spend a lot of time riding straight uphill do pretty well.

Careful, those numbers are correct depending on who you ask, some people may prefer if you keep the Basque separate from the spaniards…

Spain definately did well in this tour! Wouldnt you consider this years race more of a climbers tour? Seemed to be more climbing stages and the first TT had a fair amount of climbs. The spanish are usually good climbers.
