They made a hit with the new frame for sure. And the price seems fair for top tier bikes. WC showed Shiv dominance though and the nex gen shiv should be on its way…
It may. Decent pricing on what looks to be a fine frame. These things are cyclical…the Speed Concept this year, the BMC next and the new Cervelo when it comes out. If the product proves to be good…like the P3 or the SC or Shiv, and available…sales probably will remain solid until the next big thing or next generation of the model.
BMC should get bigger and its TM01/TM02 should be highly desireable. However, Specialized seems to have something big waiting for Kona, the trickle-down in Felt’s DA series puts really good stuff at really good price points, Trek’s SC line looks expanded and better priced, especially with a SC7 with Force and race wheels for under $4500, and Giant has its Trinity Composite that finally puts a tt bike at a “volume” price point. Trek, Giant, and Specialized have much more dealer support than BMC. If they educate their dealers and market themselves to triathletes they will easily overwhelm BMC. These are always the big questions with these major companies. Giant, especially, has been quiet, but with a tt bike that is not in the superbike price catagory that may change. Long story short, there is a lot of good stuff and a lot of competition. At least for now, BMC will remain a niche brand.
I already bought my bike, but I don’t think people will go running to buy these unless they produce a fancy white paper with pretty graphs and impressive numbers like trek did. Maybe it’s out there but I am not aware of anything.
I sure hope so to raise the value of my P4. I got my 2011 P4 at full price only to have places offer 30% discounts 2 months later. And now the rumors fly about discontinuing the P4 for the PX?
I think the BMC TM01 is a very sexy bike with everything I want.
To be a big seller, you need a big dealer network - BMC dealer network can’t compare to the reach Trek or Giant has (Giant’s new lineup is priced to sell).
