I am going to Australia for 16 days about a month prior to the DeSoto TTT. No bike, maybe swimming, but for sure I’ll be running. My advice? At the very least, get in a run every morning if you can’t find a stationary bike or something similar and really cram in the long bikes and swims in the weeks leading up to your trip. Sort of a swim/bike focus before the trip, followed by a run focus during that 3 weeks. I’m no expert.
thanks for the reply- yup, would take your advice and just make do with frequent run in between tour programs. I guess I have to work my ass off from now till the end of march and hopefully the 3 weeks that I would be in europe would not backslide my fitness too much.
Not sure if I can find rickshaws, but the first thing i’ll scout is if the place we will be staying has a gym with a stationary bike- (these tour packages have you bouncing from one destination to another).
I might drop a couple of hundies and take a TRX Force Training Kit (www.fitnessanywhere.com) with me so you can do some dry land work and maintain some muscle. You can get a door anchor and strap that thing to any sturdy door. Your cardio is not going to be a problem, your loss of ME will be is you can’t get in some specific work. Hard to sharpen on the road.
