Will 70.3 Championship Grow

Do most of you think the 70.3 Championship Series will continue to develop and grow into a really cool and competitive 1/2 iron championship w/ lots of support or will it fizzle out? Will they expand the list of races that allows you to qualify by including some non 70.3 races(like Gulf Coast for example).

I’m thinking of giving it a shot next year but would like to see how it develops first.

For me, and I’d guess a lot of other fairly competive racers it has some advantages over Hawaii with the fact its much easier and cheaper to get to than Hawaii. I honestly don’t see how some of the top AG can afford to go to so many big time races. Also, training for 1/2’s is easier time wise for a regular family guy than racing the fulls so that might attract some people too.

I bet that it grows, but I think it will move next year. After seeing the bike course there will be some major complaints from the competitorsa and the natives.

I think it is already heading that way. The pro race this weekend should be pretty competitive and exciting. I think it creates another great option for the ITU studs and there are many competitive AG which have little or no interest into the whole IM distance.

I think it’ll grow because I’m thinking that the HIM distance is the sweet spot triathlon distance. It’s tougher than a sprint and Olys but it isn’t as draining as an IM. People will be able to fit HIM training into their lives better and because of that, this will grow.
