Wildflower spoiler

It looks like Simon Lessing set a course record at 3:59 and McClone came close to the women’s record as well. No official results posted yet, just searched by bib number.

Lessing, Sindballe, Stadler, Bjorn, Bell as I calculate it.

Results are in the pick thread…your’s are a bit jumbled.

I’d like to see pix of Lessings new position and ride. There were some posted several weeks back, but he was all bundled up. Then again, since it was a hilly course, perhaps he went back to old faithful?

Would appreciate some pix (or links) when they are available…

Good for Simon, he is a stud. It looks like he led the whole time from the splits…although maybe some nice bunching on the bike.

No real surprises…although what happend to Bjorn (DNF?) and Bell (slow)?

Bjorn didn’t DNF he was 19th or so. Peter Reid DNF.

How about 3rd place Terenzo Bozzone at only 20years of age!!!

Francois, I could be wrong, however, I’m quite certain Bjorn was 8th place and his bib # was 19.

actually, you are wrong
Clas was 8th with bib #19. Bjorn was around the 20th place with Bib 10.

i bow to thee! i am wrong!

Let me state the obvious…

Lessing is the best that has ever been. When his day comes in Hawaii, he’ll be smashing the competition - I’m certain of it.

I’m glad someone else has a bit of common sense here.

Francois…you’re a man of stats…what happened to my fellow Canadian…Reid? There has to be more info than simply DNF.

How far is Bjorn into Project slowman? Did he try and ride higher cadence during the race? has he changed his gearing any? I noticed hat his run split was only 1:40 and he did not blast off the front on the bike today. I think that he had the 4th fastest bike split.

Do you think that when they shortened the cockpit that it increased his aerodynamic resistance? If suddenly he is pushing more wind that means more work just to finish the bike in the same speed and potentially more energy spent before the run. Just speculating.

I am not criticising Bjorn or Dan. I am just curious to see what changes were made and wonder what kind of impact it made.

I noticed on Bjorn’s webpage that his cycling hero is Graham Obree. Maybe it is O.K. to think outside of the box sometimes.

I bet Bjorn with his V-8 motor (as Gordo referred to it) will eventually prevail with whatever racing style he adopts. He has a lot of racing ahead of him

I think I saw Reid on the side of the road about 10 miles into the ride. Some kind of problem, don’t know if it was flat or not, but it looked like he was waiting to get picked up.

Again, how about 3rd place Terenzo Bozzone at only 20years of age!!!

Was at the finish line when they announced that Peter Reid had a “mechanical” 5 miles from the end of the bike course. No idea of the specifics.

To end the suspense, the official results are already posted here:

What is that, some kind of Italian stage name?

No - just a “Superstar in the Making”… http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?ObjectID=10121965

Terenzo is a stud. the guy is has a huge build but runs crazy fast. he’s been a bit under the radar the last two years but won junior WC and u23 i think. he won the Taupo 1/2 this winter in NZ and finished 6th at ultracompetitve Port of Tauranga half after having a flat on the bike.

he is going to fly this year and will only get better. damn.

i was at WF - Reid apparently had a flat and pulled the plug because he’s been training a lot and wasn’t ready race wise - too tired - he showed up b/c Powerbar is his sponsor and a big sponsor of the race.

WOW… I’m surprised by the results… not…

I am surprised by how much Sam won by. She is a huge talent with much room to develop still in LC racing.

I think she handed out the ass-whooping of the day.

Terenzo, I think he has 3 Junior World Championships in both Duathlon and Triathlon. A couple of weeks ago he placed 4th in the 1st World Cup race of the season only 14 seconds behind Hunter Kemper. I’d say he is doing ok for only 20 years of age.
