If you want to leave before they open up all the roads or at a decent hour on Sunday the trick is to park outside the park and ride your bike in. Assuming that you’re racing Long Course you would have a lot of stuff to carry.
I’ve never tried getting out on Saturday night but it shouldn’t be too bad.
I’m camping. but can leave anytime on Saturday (like 9 or 10pm if needed). It just looks like now I’ll have to be back at San Jose airport by about 8am on Sunday. bummer.
They had a shuttle last year. Although you have to be pretty darn slow to be able to use it. It doesn’t start running until later in the afternoon, IIRC.
to anyone who has camped out there before: my friend and i are also flying in and out of san jose, camping wed to sunday - we are planning on bringing a small stove. are there plenty of camping supply stores nearby that we can buy a small cooking gas tank?

I camped out last year, there’s a store @ the turn off to the park entrance on the left. As I recall they have every camping item you need, just remember you’ll pay for it being in the middle of no where. Good luck I’d take any IM race over doing Wildflower again:)
I’m flying into San Jose to get to Wildflower but might have to drive back really early on Sunday morning (like 4am early) or leave Saturday night.
It is really difficult to get out of the park on Saturday after the race if I wait a few hours?
i’ve heard the traffic can be really bad…
We left last year on Sunday, early around 6:30am, no problem…and we were camping deep in, since we didn’t get there until Thursday morning
