Nice field.

Wow, I’ll say!

$7.28 says desiree ficker wins the women field.

I only have $7.27
.

I’ll take it!

Too bad I’m not going to see any of them race. The only way I could see them is if my slow ass is coming down Lynch hill on my bike as they are coming down on the run.

sure rob a brother blind!

if the woman’s race was based on looks alone, I would agree with you. (not meant as a sexist comment, sorry if it is taken that way).

Depending on what kind of shape Natasha is in, I’d say Michellie Jones all the way. After watching her cruise through an “easy” win at Ralph’s a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn’t bet against her.

We weren’t talking about looks? Since we both know duathletes are the superior athlete in the multisprot arena, I’ll stick with the pick.

Wow, what a field. Lessing and Jones will crush the field…what’s with Tinley racing pro at age 45. He should just race age group now !

Well after looking at that list - my chances of taking top 100 dropped a lot…maybe I’ll go for top 1000 instead. Walton/Bjorn swim/bike combo should be fun to watch. Lessing likes hard bikes so that should suit him. I almost wish I could watch instead of race…

I can agree with that, but in some cases, some people are just plain faster, no matter which end of the multisport arena they come from.

Hey are you going to do the Dannon Phoenix race next month?

Yes, I’ll attempt to race. I’ve not biked in three weeks nor have i run more than 20 miles in that time. I guess thats what being sick, again, and moving for the thrid time this year can do to you. Needless to say I’m behind the eight ball this year.

Would you like a place to stay? I have 2 extra bedrooms. Pet Warning: I have a cat that goes off about 5-5:15am and 2 dogs.
What other dannon’s are you planning? I’m heading to Provo, alpharetta, and catherdal city.

thanks for the invite. I actually have an old college track team mate that lives in Scottsdale that I reconnected with this past January at the marathon.

I’m planning on doing Miami, Phoenix, Provo and Alpharetta. Should be an interesting year, hopefully I will be ready for all of these. I haven’t biked much either the past couple of weeks, but luckily I’m never too far from being in shape on the bike. Just finishing my base phase of running and start strength work next week. This will end up being my highest run mileage week in almost 12 years, 72 miles. Hopefully down the road that will translate into some speed, right now I am only high 35’s for a 10km so there is a long way to go.

No Tim DeBoom :frowning:
.

Miles Stewart…and Michillie Jones.

It seems as though people on this forum fail to give the Olympic-track athletes much respect for their abilities. It’s a given that many do not like the draft-legal format, but that’s no reason to disrespect the abilities of the athletes who choose that track. The fact is that a combination of huge prize purses ($3.5 million in 2003, compared to about $1.5 in the IM format), ability to race frequently, additional money from national federations, and the lure of the Olympic dream has brought a slew of REALLY good athletes into the sport. If you’ve got real talent, Olympic-track triathlon is a very viable career choice.

You respect Michellie because she’s been around a long time and won lots of non-drafting races - and she deserves that respect. But you might want to watch Emma Snowsill at Wildflower. The reigning world champion will get out of the water in the front, is a very strong biker - especially on hilly courses - and the young woman (22) can really run.

I think this may be her first longer-distance race - and she may well leave me with egg on my face. But she has the ability and the physique (small, wiry) to be really good at this sort of thing.

Don’t know about the women (M. J. looks awesome) but in the men I think there may be a dark horse coming out of Canada in this field.
