Do a hotel search on any of the travel sites for Paso Robles. It is the closest town, but still 35 minutes away from the tri start. You can try Kingman too I think, a tiny bit further. I dont know how much you need it, but Terry usually has a truck there with a remote wifi set up for the press…

I think you mean King City. Kingman is in Arizona, more than a bit of a drive to Wildflower on race morning.

“… Flagstaff, Arizona, don’t forget Winona, Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino…”

Ya, King City. That is the problem with being an athlete, in everyone else it is the body that is first to go, with us it is the memory…(-;

Thanks. Actually its for a training camp this winter at LSA and I will need computer access and a work area (2 weeks before finals).

When does registration open 1/1/10 ?

There are some rentals at Lake Nacimiento, only a few miles away from the park. Don’t know the contact info though.

registration opens Dec.1. Last year the Long Course did not sell out…they accepted registrations up until about 2 weeks before the race, IIRC.

Not sure about the Olympic distance race though.

staying at a hotel for Wildflower should be against the law! You aren’t getting the whole experience!

Definitely stay in Paso Robles, it’s a cute town with lots of great wineries and farms around. They have a few hotels, but both times I raced Wildflower we stayed at Motel 6. The first time not by choice–all other hotels were sold out, and neither me or my husband had any desire to camp–and this place exceeded our expectations by a mile–not fancy (obviously!), but very clean and frankly there isn’t one thing I can complain about. It looks fairly new. It’s also super cheap, just over $50 a night. Not sure if there’s WIFI, but there’s Starbucks about 3-5 minutes away (walking!)–it opens at 5am or so.

I wouldn’t recommend King City–we stopped there on the way from WF and the town looks really run down (maybe we were in a bad part of it, but it certainly doesn’t have the charm and the amenities of Paso Robles).

Awesome, thanks!
