Wildflower 2014 Alternate Swim-Run-Bike-Run Courses

Latest Wildflower Olympic/Long course updates from Tri-California:
Wildflower Triathlons Race Update: The Tri-California Race Crew is announcing that The Wildflower Triathlons swim will take place out of Harris Creek (2 miles east of the Lynch Area) if water levels do not reach the Lynch launch ramp by race day.

After completing the swim, Long Course and Olympic Distance participants will exit the water and transition at Harris Creek for a 2.2 mile run along the shoreline back to the Lynch Transition Area. From there, athletes will head out on unchanged bike courses for both the Long Course and Olympic Distance race.
Due to the 2.2 mile run after the swim, we will be subtracting 2.2 miles off the final run portion for both the Long Course and Olympic Distance race.
Alternate Long Course:The alternate 13.1 mile run will deduct the 2.2 miles previously run from T1A to T1B. The deduction will be taken from the run course turn around when athletes reach San Antonio Drive. At San Antonio Drive, athletes will turn left, where they have previously turned right.Alternate Olympic Course:The alternate 10k (6.2 mile) run will deduct the 2.2 miles previously run from T1A to T1B. The alternate run course will be a 7k (4.3 mile) along the shore to the beach area, right up Beach Hill (sorry), right on Interlake road and right down Lynch Hill to the Finish Line.
The course maps are now posted: Long / Olympic.

hopefully it works out. so the long course run is a bit easier and the oly course run is a LOT harder  although the pre bike run will put the hurt on both

Looks like they need to change the units of the run course map for the Oly. Should be in KM, not miles. Otherwise it looks like the run is still over 6 miles.

No visit to “the pit” in the long course will be a welcome thing for a lot of athletes. Should provide for perhaps a new record time for the run.

The Tri-California Race Crew is announcing that The Wildflower Triathlons swim will take place out of Harris Creek (2 miles east of the Lynch Area) if water levels do not reach the Lynch launch ramp by race day. Here’s the Monterey County Water Resources Agency’s weekly reservoir level report:

It looks very unlikely that the lake surface area would increase significantly even with several inches of rain in the next six weeks. During normal conditions: “San Antonio is about 16 miles long and has 5000 surface acres.” Today: 5 miles and 629 acres.
