Wii and Lance?

I got kids Wii for xmas and its amazing. I was on run and thought:Hey how about a bicycle fit game with Lance, Wellington or other you get the idea. Maybe even a triathlon game, swim, bike, run IMH HELL they got fishing. Probably brought up already here but I missed it. Thought it would be fun. Going to email the Wii people now. Dont know if the computrainer people will like it.

That will sell. not

I think something you could hook up to you’re bike on the trainer would be cool. They’ve done some neat things with the Fit. Not sure about swimming/running but I think the bike thing would be cool. Maybe this could be a poor man’s computrainer.

I worked on a project in grad school last year where we made a business pitch for a “fit” game based on bicycling, just as you described. Our pitch was not very well received, however  Maybe our problem was the fact we didn’t include God Armstrong?

thats what I was thinking Wii people would open up their game to a whole new market.

Especially with the prospect of online gaming. Super Mario Kart is a blast playing online all over the world! Having mock races on a trainer would be very cool!

Almost got this for my 18 month old nephew for commercial holiday season:

Remember that the Computrainer started as Nintendo NES software.

I don’t think hard core cyclists or triathletes would want to play a game on their expensive trainer and bike… and the average Nintendo Wii consumer (<$200?) isn’t going to want to pay for the expensive power meter and load generator required for a realistic or even fun experience.

Anything less than that would be pretty lame and I agree probably wouldn’t sell too well. But then I guess they sell a shitload of Spinervals and lots of people do spin classes… both things that annoy me to death.

I was gong to buy that for my 4 year old but went with a big wheel instead. We already bought Wii so I figured there would be enough indoor time. Not healthy being inside all the time have to get the kids out. I would bet there would be a bunch of age groupers that would get it to race each other all over the world. Put it on a training bike. Power meter’s probably only cost 25 to 150 to make for the manufactor anyway.

it would probably work as a motocross game.

There’s an arcade game where you “ride” a motocross event, but the faster you pedal, the faster you go. Not too difficult, although the seat was too low for me. The more fun part is that you tilt the bike side to side which is a bit hard on a trainer…

At what price point do you propose they bring this in?
Would it be intended as a “game” or a training aid, as this goes to pricepoint and “realism” required by the load generator?

Tacx and realaxiom both already have vr trainers.
