Wiggo to Team Sky , Yes -No

Wiggo warming up for the World Championships in his British kit with the “Sky” logo sure looks good.

Move him to Sky ,Drop IL Pistolo to Garmin and with Radioshack filling up its roster it would make for an exciting 2010 season .

Assuming that CDV would be given the Giro and Danielson the Vuelta in return for helping Contador in the TdF, they could have some serious grand tour firepower.
I personally don’t think Contador fits with the Garmin team being heavily American, but that’s not the most important aspect.

Chris

much of the core team isn’t american, i.e. wiggo, millar, tuft, hesjedal, dean, martin, maaskant…

I’m aware, but the GC guys are. (assuming you don’t count wiggo who would be leaving in this case)
I did say American and not USA, to include Tuft and Hesjedal.

Chris

The problem with Contador is he seems to be unwilling to learn English / French, doesn’t seem like the most sociable or likeable guy and it really seems like he has to race for a Spanish team. Most of Garmin are English speakers, and I think he’ll alienate himself from the team.

Contador hasn’t been in school since he was 15 so learning a foreign language is pretty daunting for him.

Nod. I think Caisse D’Epargne is the place for him, with Valverde handling the Vuelta and other lesser tours while Contador dominates whatever he decides to race in a given year.

garmin’s european hq is girona, where the key guys live most of the season.

also, people who actually race with him claim he’s a very nice, low key guy; don’t believe everything you read on lance’s twitter account.

I just don’t think Contador fits from a perception standpoint.

I thought Vaughters whole thing was sort of being the opposite of the typical Pro Tour team. Developing their own talent, placing a premium on racing clean, etc. I am not saying Contador is dirty, but he certainly does have a cloud of suspicion around him. Now, most riders do, but I am suprised Garmin would take on such baggage. It seems like their motto is “We’d rather suck clean, than have people suspect anything” and Contador sort of brings the typical Euro Pro Tour suspicions with him.

He declined a voluntary DNA test which would have cleared him from suspicion; that suspicion being a blood bag marked AC. I’m pretty sure he doped.

It is a good thing you are not heading up WADA or the UCI.
We can all say I think he doped, Lance doped, Jan doped. Doesn’t really matter what we think is a pretty sure thing. He no doubt declined offering DNA because he does not have to just like lance declined having them retest his 99 samples, because the time on those has come and gone, and there is as much, if not more evidence of doping there than having AC written on a blood bag.

hmm, well if that’s the case, i guess lance will never race for garmin either.

Or David Millar. No wait…ah forget it.
