Last year I did a few sprints and was running up to about 5 miles until I started training for Houston Marathon in October. I was wearing a nimbus 9 size 11 then moved up to an 11.5 in November. In January the 11.5 started feeling tight. I went to running store the week before marathon and walked out in a cumulus 12.5 2e. They felt great and I had absolutely no problems during Marathon(3:43). Now I am having the same problem with cycling shoes. I am wearing a sidi mega 47 which is just a little too tight and I am wanting a pair of tri shoes. Does anyone have any suggestions for a wide tri shoe? My whole foot is not really wide I just have a boney bump on the outside edge of foot.
I have a wider foot, and Specialized shoes work well for me. I have them for my Tri shoes, MTB shoes, and for my road bike. All of them fit much better then any other shoe I’ve tried.
try the Lake shoes, they tend to be the widest I have heard of. I have flat, somewhat wide feet and find the Spec Trivents too narrow
shimanos are pretty roomy in the toebox, i have 2E wide feet and my tr50’s fit me perfectly
.
shimano also offers a “WIDE” version in the r220 and r300…great for bunions!

You can also try stretching your current shoes. Try your local running shop and if they can’t do it take them to a shoe repair shop. You’ll need to leave them for at least a couple of days.
I’ve got a wide foot-- usually run in 2e (Nike) or 4e (Asics). I’ve had great luck with Carnac cycling shoes, both road and tri. Nice wide toe box.
Asics 4E here. I’ve had good success w/Louis Garneau Tri Ar shoes, especially w/Specialized’s BG insoles.
thanks for the info, i think i will see if someone can stretch my current road shoes and try some of these recommended tri shoes
.
go custom, hands down the smartest thing I did. In the long run custom is less expensive. My D2 cycling shoes are 2 different widths, each shoe is a different size and they fit like slippers. So comfy.
My biggest regret is not going custom years and years ago.
